Could Red be the spawning colour of our "Super Red"

I have sporadically bean reading as much posting and website to gather more information about these Asian Arowana.
Has anyone made conjecture that the "Red" colour is the spawning colour of the Orange, Orange-Red Arowana?
It has been written that the Red Variety reach sexually maturity at 3-5 years. It also has been said that the Intense Red colour does not appear until about 3-5 years. It also has been stated that "hormones" will produce the "artifical" Red colour. Is this plausible?
Is it the alarm of the re-productive clock be the trigger for the 10 year old arowana that suddenly turn red
