Same thing happened to my aro when it got home to a new much larger tank. It became very panicky and very frightened everytime I walk by. Now it is calmer, took 1 week.
You can wrap 3 sides of your tank in newspaper so it doesn't get frighten by human traffic. You could cut strips of black garbage plastic bag and weigh it down in the tank like seaweed so the aro can hide behind it. You can do what Steven suggested, use blackwater extract to calm the aro, but your water will turn dark.
Have you checked your water parameters.....high NH3/NO2 causes stress to the fish, and can be fatal too. Have you dechlorinated or aged the water before putting the new aro in ?
: I was wondering why arowanas seem calm in stores
: while many people walk by it all the time but
: when i get it at home it seems to be very scared
: when i get close to it.: If my tank was to be in a basement, what time should
: i turn on the aquarium lights and when should i
: turn it off?
