Medium Size Chilli Reds

Dear All arofans,
I plan to purchase another chilli reds. But I don't want the juvenile since its colourless. I saw 12-14" and the gill plates already showed orangy and golden colour. Will it turn to red when fully mature? What are the true signs of red turning medium size reds?
To all fellows who kept their reds since juvenile to adult, I beg your information.
