The two week thing was of my personal experience. I've bought 5 arowanas. The first one lasted the longest and it was never stressed, didn't seem like it anyways. It was doing fine until I added penicilin in an attempt to clear its cloudy eyes, which resulted in death. The second aro I gave away. The third and fourth lasted one and one and a half weeks, but they were noticeably stressed (pectoral fins clamped and everything). So as for my current one, its pectoral fins are clamped too, but it's swimming to say the least. It would be unclamped when it's turning but when it's swimming straight, it's clamped.
Oh, I sat in front of the tank today for about two hours, I think. I fell asleep right away. Do you think that would be useless if I slept? So anyways, when I awoke, I stood up and the aro jumped. 1st attempt equal ::FAILURE:: By the way, how close/far should I sit? The aro is too scared to swim when I'm too close, but seems like it won't do any good from afar.
Another note, I placed the tank in a high traffic area. I have no choice, I have a limited amount of space. Is it really stressful for the aro in a high traffic area?
P.S. Thank you Steven Goh, mary and Luc and whoever responds to my threads.
: Hi Jimmy,
: Not quite true that it normally don't last for more
: than 2 weeks. Each Aro bahaves different and each
: have it own characters and 'personality' (or
: fishionality).: While some may take less than 2 weeks to settle in a
: new environment, some may take months before the
: Aro is starting to feel comfortable in the new
: environment, especially when and if not much of
: human traffic around the tank.: As long as it still eat normally and don't appear to
: be sick, then it's OK. Just give it a little more
: time to settle down, or do like what I told you,
: sit in front of the Aro for an hour each day.
: This method works for me.
