Hi Max,
But they are extremely sensitive to waste matters in the water, especially any abrupt change in water conditions, no fish would be able to take it.
It all depends on luck, state of health of fish and what actually happened that night.
I myself have experience this hardiness of arowanas, sick for a few months, fought and injured and not fed but still alive. Of course, I am referring to bigger fishes, not those 7 inches and below.
Anyway, do remember to change water and clean the tank if there is any power cut. Best you can have a spare pump running on battery.
