It may be true. Thin glasses below 10mm for big arowana for instance, like silvers are dangerous. Just imagine beside water pressure, adult arowana like 2ft is strong and easily get irritate without much swimming space. A 60" x 18" x 20" or 5 footer tank normally use 12mm or 10mm glass for safety measure.
