Hi Tony,
I think you have really bring your arowanas to their maximum potential in size and they must be such a beauty, Asians or not is not that important, Silvers can have their own part of beauty too.
I have not fed my arowanas with mice or birds eventhough I know of some farms in Indonesia throwing small bird(with wings cut off abit) into the Dragon fish ponds and the big fish just took a gulp with big splashes. The current food you are feeding to your fish is alright:)
As for a large fish over 2 feet, you have to use something as heavy as bricks since even then I have a friend whose big arowanas still managed to overturn the heavy cover and jumped out of the tank. It does not happen to every fish but may happen to some. It's good to take precautions.
