Hi everyone,

Hope it is not too soon to pop another topic but just simply trying to gather more information asap. I was very interested at the beginning to have tank mates to beautify the tank to keep aro company. This is my findings and wondering whether do you all share the same feeling and experience.

1. I got stringray at the beginning then given it away.
2. I got parrot fish but once again, given it away.
3. I bought many plecos but seeing one die after another.

Conclusion.
1. I have to feed not only the aro but also the tank mates. I have to make sure both are fed in order for them to live with harmony. But most of the time, there are leftover at the base that needed to get rid off.
2. If happen that they feed on different kind of food, additional kind of food is needed that increase waste matters and disturb water chemistry.
3. Since aro is much harder fish, the dying of tank mates might cause disease or contaminate the water condition.
4. A sudden move by tank mate has caused one of my aro to jump and swam very aggressively for five mins.
5. I have observed that aro do get irritated by them sometime that caused aro to chase after them.
6. I saw hungry parrot fish trying to bite aro's tail.

Finally, I give away all the tank mates except the plecos (too expensive to give away)but eventually dying due to aggressiveness of aro's unpredictable mood. How do you all feel when half the Sh*t belong to the tank mates while the most important fish is the aro? Additional effort needed due to tank mates that might indirectly cost the aro? Effortless with the tank without mates, slightly problematic with the one with plecos and worst with the one fed with frozen prawn. Though mates kept aro company and beautify the tank, I feel that with them, they actually caused nuisance to the owner (needed attention too) and also stress to the aro by disturbing the peaceful environment and water condition with additional sh*t. What do all of you think? One tank one aro or one tank, one aro and one pleco or still better with others in addition to her? Thanks.

Regards
ML
