To all aro lovers,
I have spent 3 hours a day for the past three months on my three aros and following are my findings.
I treated three different tanks with different attitude ie foods, water changing, tank mates etc. All three seems to have different reaction to certain extend over different treatment. Today, I would like to talk about food first.
One aro has no other food except frogs. Meal time very accurate and never hesitate to eat whenever I put in but of course before she get full, I stop. A joy to watch her aggressiveness and "banging" against the glass for more frog each time. Water crystal clear and "shit" solid like rock with not much problem but simply can be scoop up with a net. Chemistry maintain very well.
One aro only take prawn and nothing else. Water very cloudy and needed frequent change with waste food lying below the tank. Shit chalky red that easy spoiled the chemistry. Ammonia very high each day. Never rush for food and depend on her mood without fixed timing. Frustrating to feed and lots of worries.
One aro eat only "live" food. Once mealworm were introduced, keep waiting for mealworm and nothing else except after a day of hunger, reluctantly accepot frogs or goldfishes. After taking mealworms, water cloudy and needed immediate attention. Since then, I stopped mealworm and only frog. She shown stubborness still and taken very little portion compared to previous.
Last Friday, I wanted to buy some crickets from Tiong Bahru FS but was warned not to since I have never feed them before. Once introduction, I will be having problem and needed cricket each time. From my agony, I refrained from buying.
Do you all notice that after changing or adding supplement food, problems started to pop up? cloudy water, bad water chemistry, aro behave strange, reluctant to eat suddenly, introducing disease etc. Luc, do you experience such problems in your years of experience? It seems that I am courting for trouble by trying to feed more, by trying to feed more varieties and impatiently trying to speed up his colour or size
by introducing his favourites or aro's favourites. I love my 1st tank experiment. I am frustrated with the 2nd tank's frequent cloudy water. I am furious with the stubbornnes of aro waiting for his favourite.Though the above, they keep me alert and busy each day which I have mixed feeling caring them. What is the correct and the best food or one kind of food is enough etc. Food or water chemistry that I want? Too frequent water change make aro's stress.
What do you all think?
Regards
ML
