low pH

Hi,
I got my tank for almost 7 months now. However, I encountered low pH reading (4 ~ 4.5) 2 / 3 days after changing 50% water.
Noticed that the pH was 7 immediately after water change.
Got an external filter (Fluval 404) - with ceremic rings, amnomia chips, filter media & bio balls.
Could anyone advise me how to maintain pH 6 ~ 7, other than using coral rock.
Does water current or aeration assist in maintain the required pH level?
