Dear Roger,
Lighting is very important for color development, overall growth in arowanas, esp obvious in Red and Golden Varieties. I am not sure if anyone has experienced this. What I have seen with my own fish is that, with lightings on, fish is more heathy and colorful.
As for the number of hours, lights should be on, any numbers of hours between 6 to slightly more than 12 hours is fine but the OPTIMUM to my own experience is 8 to 12 hours.
